How to make 1.5m per month - Laptop importation

PREAMBLE

Selling of laptop is a hot business in Nigeria market. People no longer wish to be using Desktops due to it's size compared to a laptop.

Due to the growth of ICT in the country, the demand for laptop is increasing everyday. And do you know that people are will to pay N80,000 - N100,000 to buy a laptop?

You can import a used or refurbished laptop from UK or US at a cheaper rate (30,000 or lesser)

if you order a laptop from an online store for N30,000 and sell it at a price of N68,000-N70,000, then you have made a profit of N38,000 to N40,000 on one deal.

If you are able to sell 10 laptops in a month, you will make 400k and 1.2million if you sell 30 laptops in 3 months. I have clients who sell more than that. There is no how you won't make 1.5million in 3 months.

This article is about how you can import new, refurbished or UK/US used laptops and sell them in the Nigeria market space, there is a lot of money to be made if you invest in this business.

How to start Importing Laptops to Nigeria

How are you going to do this? Number one, you need a:

  1. Supplier
  2. Shipping company
  3. The Market

Supplier

This is the company where you are going to get and import your laptops from. You need to buy from eBay and the reason why I am recommending ebay is because, they have regulated the types of their products in categories and you can complain if that product does not meet the standard you actually paid for.

NOTE: You can also get laptops in China, even at a reduced price but I am recommending eBay because of quality.

Categories of Laptop

When you go to ebay.com, you look for the laptop you want to buy. There are five main categories of laptop:

  1. New Laptops
  2. Manufacturer refurbished
  3. Seller refurbished
  4. Open box
  5. Fairly Used

New Laptops - a new laptop is entirely new. If this company says it is new, believe them it is new... It is absolutely new.

Is it ok to buy a new laptop on ebay?

For everybody, the answer is Yes! it is the best to buy. But for me, the answer is No! Why? Because the price of a new laptop is extremely high and selling a high price product might not move fast in the Nigeria market.

Manufacturer refurbished - If a laptop is not moving anymore in the market or it is getting to old in the store or it has factory fault, the manufacturer may decided to refurbished it by increasing the Memory (hard drive) from 500 GB to 1 TB, increasing the RAM and operating system.

In the process of doing that, they have refurbished the laptop. It is the manufacturers that are doing it themselves, they are the one who manufactured the laptop initially and that is what they called "Manufacturer Refurbished".

Is it ok to buy a manufacturer refurbished laptop on ebay?

If we look at the word "Refurbished" it sounds like "Risk" but if the item is coming directly from the manufacturer or approved vendor, There is no problem in buy it - just enjoy the best price!

Seller refurbished - This is the same thing with the manufacturer refurbished but this time around, it is the Seller that is refurbishing it, not the manufacturer. Because a particular product is not moving well, the can decided to replace or readjust or put things back in shape inside the laptop.

Is it ok to buy a seller refurbished laptop on ebay?

I don't usually recommend this. Because it is not the manufacturer that refurbished it. But that doesn't mean the laptop is not inspected, cleaned, repaired to full working order and in excellent condition.

Open box - What is open box? Let me explain it like this, someone went to a store in the USA where they sell laptops. He picked up a laptop, paid for it and took it home... he used it for 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, then he returned it back to the store and requested for half or little of his money back because maybe he needed cash or wanted to buy the latest one.

This type of laptop will not be categorized as a new one. It will be categorized as an Open Box,  so you are going to buy it at a very reduced price.

An Open Box item can also be a laptop that has been used for testing or demo purposes.

Fairly used - When companies and organizations in the UK have used their laptops for 6 months or above and they decided to replace them, they sell their used laptops to a particular group of company that use to buy fairly used laptops.

This company will remove the operating system and when they remove it they sell it at a very reduced price.

You can get some of this laptops at 5k, 10k or 15k and when you bring them to Nigeria, you can sell them at 70k, 80k, 90k or even 100k. Making a profit of about 40k, 50k and sometimes 60k from eash laptops.

There are a lot of money to be made from importing laptops to Nigeria, all you just need to do is buy it from my recommended site "ebay". ebay.com or ebay.co.uk or bestbuy.com.

Not that you can't buy from China company like Alibaba.com, 1688.com or MadeInChina.com but you may not be guaranty of quality even though it is coming new.

A laptop that has been used before that you want to bring to Nigeria must be something that someone can still use for at least 3 to 5 years. You will have to consider that fact before moving ahead to the business

This is a business that can generate you 500 thousand, 1 million or 1.5 million within a period of about 3 month to 6 months.

    1. You don't need a direct shopping contact, unless you want to be scammed...

Browse through the website I recommend above and contact the seller.

I recommended MyUS.com as a safe and legit shipping company, log-on to their website to contact them.

    1. You will need to add more filters to your search Josh,

I just checked out eBay and I added some filters like "price range" see my search result in the link below.

      https://www.ebay.com/b/HP-Laptops-Netbooks/175672/bn_2780154?LH_ItemCondition=3000&rt=nc&_udhi=150&mag=1

You can see that the first laptop is just $56 which is 28k because a dollar is 510 as at the time I am replying to your comment.

It is a laptop you can sell for 75 to 80k and many more are there too.

All you need is to add more filters. Ok?
